You can do this by double-clicking the file on your computer. (Items are measured here in inches, not in points.). Type another value if you want your indents to be more or less outrageous. Unless you’ve messed with the settings, the box should automatically say 0.5”, which means that Word automatically indents the first line of every paragraph a half inch - one tab stop. Left indent: All lines of the paragraph are indented in relation to the left. Hanging indent: Every line of the paragraph except the first one is indented.
First-line indent: Only the first line of the paragraph is indented. Here are the possible types of indents in Word. Some people call these “outdents,” but that’s just a made-up word.
